Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup non-fat Greek yogurt

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup zero-calorie sweetener (like Swerve or Stevia)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Optional: 2 tbsp sugar-free chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
    • Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper
    • Spray lightly with non-stick cooking spray
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together:
      • Unsweetened applesauce
      • Non-fat Greek yogurt
      • Egg whites
      • Vanilla extract
    • Mix until smooth and well combined
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients
    • In a separate bowl, sift together:
      • Unsweetened cocoa powder
      • All-purpose flour
      • Zero-calorie sweetener
      • Baking powder
      • Salt
  4. Create Batter
    • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients
    • Stir until just combined
    • Do not overmix
    • If using, fold in sugar-free chocolate chips
  5. Bake
    • Pour batter into prepared pan
    • Spread evenly with a spatula
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes
    • Test with a toothpick – it should come out with a few moist crumbs
  6. Cool and Serve
    • Let brownies cool in pan for 10 minutes
    • Lift out using parchment paper
    • Cool completely on a wire rack
    • Cut into 9 equal squares
